Body of man suspected to have drowned recovered from Sarikei river

KUCHING, Sept 7: A 42-year-old man is suspected to have drowned after falling into a river near a village at Jalan Langsat, Sarikei this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) despatched a team to scene after it was alerted to the situation at 10.03am.

According to the statement from the state Bomba Operations Centre, the deceased was standing on a boat but fell into the river. A witness who happened to be at the scene attempted to search for the deceased but failed to locate him.

Firefighters who reached the scene also started a search operation and managed to locate the body of the deceased by using a specialised tool. The body was later handed over to the police.

The search operation was ended at 11.30am. — DayakDaily
