“The deceased’s body is intact, even though there are signs of decomposition,” she told reporters when met at Gunung Tabai operation post today.

She said the decomposed body will be transported to police’s Forensic Unit for further action.

According to her, the condition of the body has made it difficult for the deceased’s relative to identify the victim.

“We will need the deceased’s siblings or mother to come forward to conduct a DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) analysis.

“Initially, this case is classified as missing person case, now it is classified as a sudden death report (SDR),” she said.

On Aug 27, Bomba operation centre received a request from Bau local police to retrieve the victim’s body at Gunung Tabai after he was reported to be buried while illegally mining for gold since Aug 13.

Yesterday, Jawai in a statement confirmed that they had received reports regarding the incident from Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia.

Later on the same day, the operation to locate and retrieve the victim’s body had to be postponed due to weather condition. – DayakDaily
