Body of elderly woman found floating near Kuching City Mosque

KUCHING, July 26: The body of a woman believed to be in her 70s was found beneath the Kuching City Mosque at Waterfront here today.

According to Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, a call regarding the discovery was received at 10.45am.

“When police arrived at the scene, the body had drifted to the jetty area near Pangkalan Panjang.

“A medical team from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) arrived to confirm that the victim has passed away,” he said in a statement.

He said the victim was found wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, a pair of blue pants, and a pink headscarf. No documents were found on her.

“We urge the public not to speculate on the case as we are investigating to identify the victim and the cause of death,” he said.

At the same time, he urged those with information on the case to contact Kuching Central Police Station Chief ASP Marshall Ajin at 012-8088195, Sergeant Norman at 012-8787479, or report to the nearest police station. — DayakDaily
