KUCHING, Dec 16: The body of an 81-year-old man in Ulu Baram was found after being reported to have drowned in Sungai (Sg) Selangor near Ulu Baram.
According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre today, the deceased’s body was found at 9.05am by search and rescue (SAR) personnel about 5km from the Sg Selangor estuary.
The body was later brought to the Kampung Leo Matu longhouse directly by request from the victim’s family members for the burial process tomorrow.
Bomba Marudi received a call regarding the incident on Thursday (Dec 14) and dispatched a team of firefighters to the location.
They travel using an off-road vehicle due to the location, which is situated in the interior part of Ulu Baram and can only be accessed through a logging road.
The operation comprised three police personnel and 50 villagers. — DayakDaily
