KUCHING, Sept 17: The body of a 25-year-old man feared drowned in Sungai Belaie Ulu Skrang was found on the second day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation.
According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, the body of Fresly Setipin was found at 3.15pm today by the SAR team about 50 metres from the Bomba operations control centre at the location.
“The remains were later brought to the riverside for identification by family members before being handed over to the police,” it said.
On Saturday (Sept 16), the deceased, together with eight others, were bathing in the river until one of them realised that the victim had been dragged by the river current.
An initial attempt was made to save the victim but failed, which prompted the victim’s friends to seek help from the local villagers, including making a police report regarding the incident. — DayakDaily
