KUCHING, Oct 23: E-hailing drivers and driving instructors in Sarawak are not to be left out in the RM500 one-off assistance by the state government.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the State Cabinet has decided to extend the assistance to 2,396 e-hailing drivers and 791 driving instructors in Sarawak.
Previously, the state government has provided the same assistance to the transportation sector but e-hailing drivers were not included in the first groups of benefactors.
“In July 2020, Sarawak government has extended assistance to relevant players in the transportation sector that are badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic such as taxi drivers, school bus and van operators, licensed van operators and penambang operators in the state,” he said during a press conference to announce BKSS 4.0 extension at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
He added the one-off assistance to the drivers and vehicles operators will cost Sarawak government RM1.59 million altogether.
This was one of seven extended Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 4.0 measures announced today (Oct 23) for the period of October to December, 2020.
The extended measures are aimed to reduce the people’s cost of living and cost of doing businesses which are impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.-DayakDaily
