BINTULU, July 17: The operation hours for the economic sector in Bintulu Division has been revised to 6am to 9pm effective yesterday (July 16).

Bintulu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (Bintulu DDMC) chairman Jack Aman Luat announced this following a virtual meeting with the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) to coordinate plans for the Phase 2 of National Recovery Plan (NRP).

With that, he said that restaurants, eateries, food stalls, food trucks, roadside hawkers, mobile hawkers, food courts, hawker centres, and other food and beverage (F&B) related businesses can operate in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) from 6am to 9pm.

On the easing of certain restrictions to enter Bintulu, Jack who is also Bintulu Division Resident, urged people not to take advantage or abuse the relaxation for self-interest as inter-district and inter-division movement or travel is still not allowed.

“Do not abuse the privilege to make unnecessary or non-essential travel as the Movement Control Order (MCO) is still being enforced, more so when new variants of coronavirus have been reported in Sarawak,” he said in a statement reported by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) yesterday.

He added that the Bintulu DDMC has decided to ease certain restrictions to enter Bintulu for individuals who have been fully vaccinated at least two weeks after the second dose in a vaccine regime.

“They will not have to undergo the mandatory pre-travel Covid-19 testing to enter Bintulu but a police permit is still required for inter-district and inter-division travel.

“For individuals who have not completed the two doses Covid-19 vaccine regime or have not fulfilled the period of two weeks from the last date of receiving the second dose, they need to take a pre-travel testing with three days validity and police permits before travelling to Bintulu,” he explained. — DayakDaily
