KUCHING, May 12: Bintulu MP Dato Sri Tiong King Sing has called on Malaysians not to be easily influenced by the political games of certain parties trying to divide racial and religious relationships.
In a Facebook post, Tiong, who is also the assemblyman for Dudong and Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, warned that what these parties are doing is merely for their own interests.
“I always remind everyone that unity and harmony must continuously be preserved.
“We must always accept and respect differences in race and religion to ensure our society continues to live in peace and solidarity,” he said.
Speaking on his attendance at a pre-Gawai Dayak dinner with the Samalaju community on Sunday (May 10), he praised it as a lively and meaningful atmosphere where people from various religions and ethnic backgrounds came together to enliven the celebration.
“This is the true spirit of Malaysians— always practising mutual respect, understanding, and celebrating each other’s cultural diversity.
“Remember, building unity in a plural society is not easy, but destroying it is very easy.
“May the spirit of togetherness built today continue to be nurtured for a more harmonious future for the coming generations,” he said. — DayakDaily
