BINTULU, Dec 20: The Bintulu-Jepak Bridge, set to be adorned with decorative lights and featuring a vertical lift for panoramic views, is poised to emerge as the city’s newest and most alluring landmark upon its anticipated completion around October 2024.
In a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo revealed that the bridge, which is currently at 66.7 per cent completion, will have its own uniqueness.
“The component of this bridge will later include decorative lighting and a vertical lift on the Bintulu side of the bridge to offer visitors opportunity to enjoy the view,” he said during the press conference after visiting the construction and completion of the Package 5 Coastal Road Project and the Bintulu-Jepak Bridge yesterday (Dec 19).
Furthermore, the Sadong Jaya assemblyman emphasised that the Bintulu Integrated Administration Centre (IAC), where all government departments in Bintulu will be housed, is also slated for completion in October next year.
“Despite encountering some technical challenges, we are content with the current 59 per cent completion status, aligning with our implementation schedule,” he explained.
In addition, Aidel disclosed the Sarawak government’s plan to construct a 4.2-kilometre two-lane dual carriageway connecting Bintulu Airport to IAC Bintulu, with an expected two-thirds reduction in travel time upon completion.
Meanwhile, expressing gratitude to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee commended the local residents’ access to progress.
“Residents in nearby areas such as Serupai and Tatau will benefit from the government services at IAC. The introduction of these new routes is also expected to stimulate development in the Jepak area,” he said. — DayakDaily
