KUCHING, Aug 15: Bintulu MP Dato Sri Tiong King Sing has asked the Bintulu Divisional Health Office to work together with the Malaysian Information Department (JaPen) Bintulu Division to carry out a health education campaign on hygiene to curb the spread of Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease (HFMD) among children in rural areas.

In his Facebook post on Aug 14, Tiong said it is essential to ensure cleanliness in playgrounds, kindergartens, nurseries, pre-schools, and childcare centres.

“I have asked Bintulu Divisional Health Officer Dr Melvin Chung Hsien Liang to cooperate with JaPen Bintulu Division to carry out the campaign,” he said.

Tiong also assured his assistance in providing suitable transportation to facilitate and launch the campaign.

According to him, there are also demands from residents of longhouses in rural areas who face difficulties seeking treatment due to economic factors, including logistics.

“As a politician, I will do my best to help provide the best service to the community,” he added. — DayakDaily
