KUCHING, April 8: Sarawak Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) has never appointed any party to provide tombstone cleaning services at Semariang Islamic Cemetery, it clarified in a statement today.
The Board made the statement in response to a Facebook post which claimed that there were irresponsible parties committing fraud regarding the tombstone cleaning and repairing service at the cemetery.
“LAKMNS as the operator of the cemetery would like to inform that we have never officially appointed any party to provide tombstone cleaning services at certain graves as stated.
“Any matter related to making and repairing tombstones in the cemetery area is made through a panel of contractors appointed by LAKMNS only.
“LAKMNS is not involved in any matters and transactions between the public or beneficiaries and their contractor panel. All agreements are the responsibility of the heirs and their contractor panel,” it said in a Facebook post today.
LAKMNS however would like to advise the public to always be careful in matters involving the manufacturing of tombstones to avoid unfortunate incidents.
They are also recommended to always refer to the LAKMNS Cemetery Division regarding any matters at the Semariang Islamic Cemetery. — DayakDaily
