KUCHING, Aug 25: The Bungey 2 Cluster in Betong, which stemmed from a wedding in the town has surged to 470, after 61 more Covid-19 positive cases were added overnight.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily updates on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that the cluster currently has 380 active cases.
A total of 535 individuals linked to the Bungey 2 Cluster have been screened, of which only 23 have tested negative and 42 are still awaiting lab test results.
The cluster, declared on Aug 12 and involved residents of a village in Kampung Hilir Bungey in Debak, originated from a wedding ceremony which took place on July 30 and 31.
The Bungey 2 Cluster is among the 29 existing clusters in Sarawak that registered an increase in daily infections with a total of 225 cases contributed today’s daily caseload of 1,667.
Coming in second with the highest increase in cases is the longhouse Long Urun Cluster in Belaga which picked up 49 more cases to increase the cluster’s total to 584 and all are still active cases.
A total of 930 individuals have been screened, whereby 227 have tested negative while 119 are still awaiting for lab test results.
The remaining 27 clusters that saw an increase in cases are Sega Cluster in Bau which recorded 27 more cases; Sebayor Cluster in Samarahan (21 cases); Kampung Paon Rimu Cluster in Serian, Lorong Cahaya Damai Cluster in Kuching and Tanjong Kibong 2 Cluster in Sibu (7 cases each); Kampung Muara Tebas 2 Cluster in Kuching (6 cases); Jalan Pisang Raja Cluster in Bintulu and Nanga Pelugau Cluster in Selangau (4 cases each); while Jalan Lembah Hijau Cluster in Miri, Kampung Matang Lot Cluster in Kuching, Jalan Hospital Cluster in Sri Aman and new Opar Cluster in Bau (3 cases each).
Those that added two more cases are Jalan Buan Cluster in Tatau, Kampung Tanjong Bako Cluster in Kuching, Kampung Lintang Baru Cluster in Serian, Jalan Akses Cluster in Sri Aman and Long Maktub Cluster in Sebauh.
Jalan Kemena Industry Estate 38 Cluster in Bintulu, Kampung Bintawa Tengah Cluster in Kuching, Kampung Bintawa Hilir Cluster in Kuching, Kampung Bintawa Ulu Cluster in Kuching, Lorong Teruntum Cluster in Kuching, Kampung Kakeng Cluster in Serian, Batu 25 Jalan Kuching-Serian Cluster in Serian, Dijjih Cluster in Selangau, Ensabang Plaie Cluster in Serian and Nanga Puti Cluster in Tatau reported one case each. — DayakDaily
