KUCHING, Aug 25: Three longhouses in Betong have been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), while the EMCO in one longhouse in Beluru was extended.

Likewise, the EMCO in four locations — one each in Kapit, Bukit Mabong, Subis and Sri Aman — has ended.

According to a report from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Rh Alexander, Bebuling Atas, Spaoh, Rh Lanyau, Linsom and Rh Mendali, Buyong Bangat, all in Betong were placed under EMCO from August 26 until Sept 8.

The EMCO for Rumah Paberi Mageli, Sg Menok, Tinjar in Beluru district was extended from Aug 25 to Aug 31.

It was initially implemented from August 10 to August 24 to curb the transmission of coronavirus.

SDMC said the EMCO in Rh Robert, Nanga Sebatu in Kapit, SK Nanga Entuloh in Bukit Mabong, Rumah Angut Anding, Niah in Subis and Rh. Sering, Kampung Bangkong, Pantu in Sri Aman ended today (August 25).

On the other hand, the Covid-19 situation in Kapit and Limbang has worsened after SDMC declared Kapit district a Covid-19 red zone after reporting 45 cases of local infection in the past 14 days.

Similarly, Limbang has turned into a Covid-19 yellow zone after falling from its green zone status after reporting one new Covid-19 case in the past two weeks.

With that, the number of districts classified as Covid-19 red zones has increased to 25 while districts categorised as yellow zones have risen to eight.

There were five districts classified as Covid-19 orange zones, while only two Covid-19 green zones remain in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
