Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu — watch out for heavy rain, strong winds until 1pm (Nov 21)

KUCHING, Nov 21: Five districts in Sarawak are expected to be swept by thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds until 1pm today.

In an advisory issued at 9.45am today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) said the five affected districts are:

• Betong (Saratok and Kabong);
• Sarikei (Sarikei and Meradong);
• Sibu (Sibu and Selangau);
• Mukah; and
• Bintulu. (Tatau)

“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with an intensity of rain exceeding 20 mm/hour that is close or expected to occur for more than an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release,” said the department. — DayakDaily
