KUCHING, Nov 1: Government agencies must move beyond promises and deliver tangible results for the people, with stronger accountability, urgency, and inter-agency cooperation forming the cornerstone of the Ministry of Works’ (KKR) priorities for 2027.
Outlining the ministry’s direction after its three-day 2027 Strategic Direction Meeting with its agencies, Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said every decision must translate into meaningful benefits, particularly in developing sustainable, quality infrastructure.
He said the ministry wanted to foster a working culture that prioritises public interests, encourages shared responsibility, embraces data- and technology-driven innovation, and ensures decisions produce tangible outcomes.
“The people do not just want to hear promises; they want to see results,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Nanta stressed that achieving these goals required a strong sense of urgency, responsibility,y and accountability at every level of the ministry and its agencies.
He also emphasised the importance of consistent follow-up and follow-through to ensure decisions were not merely made but fully implemented and delivered positive outcomes.
Describing the meeting as an opportunity to align perspectives and strengthen collective commitment, he said the ministry and its agencies must work together as one team to address challenges and find solutions.
Quoting the saying ‘Berat sama dipikul, ringan sama dijinjing’ (‘A burden shared is a burden halved’), Nanta called for greater cooperation and collective responsibility in carrying out the ministry’s duties.
“Let us continue working with integrity and accountability while developing sustainable, high-quality national infrastructure that consistently delivers direct benefits to the people,” he said. — DayakDaily
