KUCHING, June 23: ‘Behind every great man is a great woman’, and for Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, that certainly rang true as she has been the backbone and pillar of strength for her husband, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
In a condolence message, Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, expressed sadness over Juma’ani’s passing, describing it as a huge loss not only for her family but also for the whole of the State.
They described her as the Premier’s backbone and strength throughout his 48-year political career. She has faced the many challenges, obstacles, and difficulties that he also faced and has been a source of strength and inspiration to him.
She was also active in charities and welfare, which was reflected in her role as president of the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI).
He also described her as someone who was steadfast and responsible, providing emotional support and encouragement as she understood the duties and responsibilities that the Premier had to carry out as the head of Sarawak’s leadership.
Juma’ani passed away at 3.34am today at the Normah Medical Specialist Centre here. She was 76. — DayakDaily
