KUCHING, April 30: The Bung Bratak Heritage Association (BBHA) will not organise its Bung Bratak Festival this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Its chairman Dato Peter Minos said for this year, the association feels that it is not that convenient or opportune for them to organise the usual festival on May 1.

“But BBHA can promise a big, wonderful one next year (2023) when it is expected that Covid-19 will be vanquished and gone,” he said in a statement today.

Minos noted, Bung Bratak’s heroine and Malaysia’s diving ace Pandelela Rinong will also be joining next year’s event.

He added that Pandalela too had said that Bung Bratak is her “kupou asal” (original village).

Meanwhile, Minos also expressed his gratitude to the Sarawak government for its support by providing RM2 million to the Bung Bratak Heritage Centre (BBHC), and also the Federal government through Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) for its RM8 million contribution. — DayakDaily
