BAU, Jan 27: The land acquisition for the 3.65km dual-carriageway road upgrade project from the Bau-Lundu junction to Bau Town is near completion at 90 per cent, says Deputy Minister of Transport Dato Henry Harry Jinep.
“For the project, it is going well, we have almost completed the land acquisition and have compensated all the affected landowners, except for the (uncooperative) weather.
“The relocation of services like power and water supply is also progressing well,” he told reporters after launching the new Bau Town gateway along Jalan Datuk Temenggong Salau last night (Jan 26).
Henry, who is also Tasik Biru assemblyman, said the relocation of water pipes has to be carried out properly so as to not affect the livelihood of the people.
The project to upgrade the single-lane road from R5 Public Works Department (JKR) standard to the U5 standard started in February last year and is worth RM74 million.
On rural transformation programme (RTP) projects in the Bau area, Henry said everything is progressing well except for one or two projects experiencing a few challenges.
“The agencies involved are working well, except for certain areas where we still need to finalise the siting because we must conduct land surveying first to tackle any obstacles that arise,” he said. — DayakDaily
