KUCHING, Aug 14: Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How has resigned with immediate effect from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).
This was announced and confirmed today by State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohammad Asfia Awang Nassar, who received See’s resignation letter on Friday (Aug 12).
“I received a letter on Friday from Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How, stating that he had resigned as a member of PSB with immediate effect.
“With his resignation as a PSB member, the parties in the Sarawak DUN are as follows: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has 76 seats, PSB has three, Democratic Action Party (DAP) has two, and Independent has one,” Asfia said today during a press conference held in the DUN here.
He stated that See was personable, brilliant, and competent.
“He was erudite in presenting his views and opinions in the Dewan. He was a member of the Consultative Committee in advising the Dewan on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“I wish him well, and I have confidence that he can discharge his duties and responsibilities as a member of DUN and his contributions to Sarawak,” he remarked.
Asfia continued by stating that See’s resignation is accepted and disclosing that the latter did not switch parties but rather resigned from PSB to become an Independent.
Furthermore, he stated that the next session would most likely be held in November, following the presentation of the federal budget in the Dewan Rakyat. — DayakDaily
