BAS.MY Kuching: Registration for unlimited monthly travel concession card begins next week

KUCHING, March 7: Following the encouraging response from the BAS.MY Kuching service, registration for the much-anticipated concession card for unlimited monthly travel, My50, will begin next week.

In a statement issued today, Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (LPKP) Sarawak chairman Michael Kong Feng Nian said that to facilitate this, the bus operator, Biaramas Express Sdn Bhd, will be opening a new service office at 9 Market Street (near 7-Eleven and the Open Air Market bus stop) to assist with registrations.

“We understand that affordable and accessible public transport is crucial for our community,” he said.

Additionally, operating hours for the initial route Q10 have also been announced:

  • Weekdays: 5am to 11pm
  • Weekends: 7am to 10pm

“We are excited about the strong public response so far and remain committed to ensuring a smooth and efficient rollout of additional routes in the coming weeks.

“We will continue to update the public on new developments and improvements as we expand the BAS.MY service to benefit more people in Kuching.

“We encourage everyone to explore and experience the new public transport system and take advantage of the affordable, comfortable, and reliable service that BAS.MY offers,” he said.

The BAS.MY Kuching service, launched under the federal government’s Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) project with an allocation of over RM79 million over five years, is set to modernise public transport in Greater Kuching with 56 new low-deck city buses serving 10 routes in a striking pink livery.

Equipped with electronic ticketing machines (ETMs) that accept debit and credit cards, e-wallets, and cash, these buses also feature GPS tracking and accessibility enhancements for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

The first route, Q10, covers 48 stops at key locations such as Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), tHe Spring shopping mall, Sultan Iskandar Building, VivaCity Megamall, eMart Tabuan Jaya, Samarahan Heart Centre, and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas). — DayakDaily
