Baram school closed due to flood

BARAM, Jan 20: SK Benawa had to cancel its schooling session today after rain flooded the school compound and road access cut off, affecting 53 pupils.

According to one of the school teacher, Alister Mariben Kiding, as of 8am, the school compound was inundated by water up to 3ft.

“The boarding school students are still in the school, but parents were unable to sent their children, as the road heading to the school was also flooded including the school compound,” he said in a statement.


Road access to the school was cut off, as seen from the the entrance.

He added that the school session was stopped for the 53 students and 11 teachers, which also affected some 20 staff in the school, as precaution of their safety to avoid contact with poisonous animals amid the flood situation. — DayakDaily
