KUCHING, Aug 13: Baleh assemblyman Nicholas Kudi Jantai has officially announced his intention to contest for the position of Youth chief of the Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) at the party’s upcoming Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) this October.

With Kudi joining the fray, it appears that four leaders, including Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, Tamin assemblyman Ir Christopher Gira Sambang, and Lubok Antu MP Roy Angau Gingkoi, are now eyeing the PRS Youth chief post.

In a statement today, Kudi expressed his confidence in stepping forward, saying his candidacy is driven not by the pursuit of a position, but by the belief that PRS Youth needs bold, visionary leadership capable of keeping pace with the demands of the times.

Reflecting on his long-standing involvement with PRS, Kudi highlighted his journey within the party, from serving as a member of the PRS Youth Central Committee, to four years as political secretary to the Chief Minister of Sarawak, before being elected as a representative.

He described these roles as “real arenas of struggle” that shaped his leadership, strengthened his connection with grassroots members, and allowed him to align youth aspirations with Sarawak’s development policies.

“If entrusted with the mandate, I will steer PRS Youth to be more organised, inclusive, responsive, and relevant.

“We will advance youth development in education, skills, entrepreneurship, and the digital economy, uphold politics of integrity for the people, and implement effective social media strategies,” he said.

Kudi stressed that PRS Youth is the lifeblood of the party’s future. “With youthful energy, a spirit of struggle, and the experience I have accumulated over the years, we can make PRS Youth more influential, respected, and relevant in leading the next generation,” he added.

He concluded by urging all members, particularly PRS divisions, to support his candidacy, emphasising that together they can strengthen PRS Youth, safeguard Sarawak’s future, and uphold the party’s enduring struggle since its founding. — DayakDaily
