Australia partners with Sarawak in energy storage collaboration

KUCHING, March 3: Australia’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Danielle Heinecke, revealed that Australia has signed a cooperation agreement with Sarawak in the field of energy storage.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Heinecke stated that the collaboration aims to address the State’s future energy needs.

“We have just signed an agreement to cooperate on energy storage to help Sarawak assess its energy requirements for the future and explore various options for using energy storage to meet those needs,” she said after a courtesy visit to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

Heinecke also mentioned that Australia is eager to attract more investors to Sarawak, including from her own country.

“We want to bring more investors to Sarawak, and indeed, some Australian investors are considering Sarawak as a potential destination, particularly in the energy and mining sectors,” she added.

Present at the meeting were Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi; Sarawak Regional Director of the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fenny Nuli; and Sarawak Energy Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili. – DayakDaily
