Aussie minister visits museum, kicks off 4-day tour to deepen Northern Territory-Sarawak ties

KUCHING, June 24: Australia’s Northern Territory Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations, Robyn Cahill, began her official visit to Sarawak today with an immersive tour of the Borneo Cultures Museum (BCM), where she experienced first-hand the State’s rich and diverse multi-ethnic heritage.

Accompanied by escorting officer Yasmin Khalid Nicholls, Cahill was briefed on Sarawak’s cultural tapestry through interactive exhibitions and heritage artifacts showcasing the Dayak, Malay, Melanau, and Chinese communities.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, the museum visit offered a vibrant introduction to Sarawak’s unique social fabric and living traditions.

Cahill is in Kuching for a four-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between Sarawak and Australia’s Northern Territory, with a focus on tourism, cultural exchange, and community relations.

The visit also seeks to enhance broader diplomatic and social cooperation between the two regions.

This afternoon, Cahill is scheduled to meet Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan at Wisma Sumber Alam. Later this evening, she will attend a dinner hosted by Deputy Premier Dato Sri Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian at the same venue. — DayakDaily
