Attempted abduction of female jogger in Miri: Police on the hunt for 4 suspects

MIRI, Aug 2: A female jogger has claimed that she was nearly abducted by four masked men while jogging along the side of Bakam Road, near Maira Camping Site, on July 28.

Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu has confirmed receiving a report from the local woman, who sustained injuries during the incident.

The suspects, who were driving a dark purple Perodua Alza, approached the victim as they were traveling from Kampung Bakam towards Bekenu.

Two men exited the vehicle and forcibly pulled the woman, causing her to fall and injure her elbows and left knee.

The victim reported that the assailants were unarmed and she could not identify them or the vehicle’s registration number.

Police are currently investigating the motive behind the incident, as no items were taken from the victim.

The authorities urge the public to refrain from speculating or spreading unverified information on social media to avoid causing unnecessary panic.
