KUCHING, May 13: Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) Sarawak and Persatuan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Tajai Sarawak delivered supplies to ease the burden of fire victims in Rh Peter Minggat Mujan in Skrang.

Its Volunteer and Community Service Bureau head and Sibu district coordinator, Jonathan Yii, said on the evening of March 30, the longhouse caught fire, leaving 33 households homeless and displaced.

“Affected residents were previously staying in a temporary shelter near the longhouse, and two weeks ago, they established a temporary residence in the disaster area. They are currently raising funds to rebuild their homes,” he said in a statement today.

Yii also conveyed his gratitude to City Harvest Church Sibu for raising funds needed, including providing the necessary supplies for the victim, and to Persatuan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Tajai Sarawak for their efforts in coordinating and arranging transportation to deliver the supplies.

Meanwhile, Yii said stated that they will focus on community service activities.

He said although they do not have regional or federal representatives in Sarawak, they have enthusiasm and love for caring for society.

He also said it is hoped that all of their efforts can bring more care and blessings to the surrounding environment and work towards solving the problems the public faces.

“At present, we have started to collect second-hand clothes. The clothes received will be temporarily stored in my office so that we can take appropriate measures and donate them in the event of an emergency.

“If the public is interested in donating, they can call our service hotline at 011 3616 9266,” he added. — DayakDaily
