Starting in 2016 as a singer, Watson shared with DayakDaily that throughout his life, he has strived to excel in every endeavour. He said that winning a few ‘Keling’ pageants in 2019 has made him work harder to excel in his career.

“It is from here that I pursued my personal development and aimed to set a high standard (for myself),” he said.

Watson said these accomplishments are not merely personal milestones but a step towards a larger goal of inspiring those around him and demonstrating what is possible through perseverance and focus.

“I dream of transforming the lives of my family members, providing them with opportunities and resources that pave the way for a better future beyond my immediate circle,” he said.

Watson said winning those awards has given him more confidence to inspire, influence, and uplift his community and country.

He envisioned a future where his actions contribute to the betterment of society and where he can be a beacon of hope and progress for others to follow.

“I see myself as a catalyst for change, dedicating my life to helping others to realise their potential. Therefore, my achievement is creating avenues for others to succeed.

“Whether through mentorship, philanthropy, or community projects, I aim to make a lasting impact,” he said.

He also dreams of a future centred on a recognised force for positive change, transforming lives and leaving a legacy honouring his culture and country.

Watson said he joined the pageant because he believed he could inspire and guide people towards greatness, as he wanted to be a source of inspiration and an idol and role model for others.

Supporting his vision, he believed that wearing the best outfit and looking one’s best help to create a positive first impression in competitions and professional settings.

“For example, from my experience, wearing well-fitted and stylish outfits can boost my self-esteem and confidence, which is essential when performing or speaking in front of an audience.

“I have to stay healthy and get physically in shape, which gives me mental strength.”

He elaborated that the fashion industry in Malaysia, including Sarawak, is also on the upswing.

“We have designers gaining recognition, and fashion events are attracting attention nationally and internationally. This growth reflects the region’s vibrant creativity and its increasing influence in the fashion world,” he said.

As an aspiring actor, Watson shared that the acting industry in Sarawak and Malaysia is experiencing a positive surge with a growing number of opportunities for actors.

“Local productions and international collaborations are becoming more common, providing a platform for emerging and established talent.”

Watson, who is also a motivational speaker and influencer, advised young people and those who want to follow in his footsteps to believe in this adage he holds close to his heart: ‘If others can do it, then there is no reason you cannot’.

“It reminds me that the accomplishments I see around me are within my reach as well. When I encounter challenges or doubt my abilities, I think about the people who have overcome similar obstacles and succeeded.

“It encourages me to have faith in my potential and never give up, no matter how difficult the journey may be,” he said. — DayakDaily
