SIBU, Dec 22: Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) announces its decision to contest in all the seven urban seats in the Central Region in the upcoming Sarawak Election.
Its Secretary General Simon Tiong said these seven seats are all the five seats in Sibu namely Bukit Assek, Pelawan, Nangka, Dudong and Bawang Assan as well as the two State seats in Sarikei – Repok and Meradong.
The news came following the party making its ground assessment and touching base with some potential candidates aspiring to represent the party in the central region.
“The names of our potential candidates will be revealed soon,” said Tiong in a press statement today.
Tiong believed that there is some voter fatigue with many disillusioned over the lack of integrity in the political parties they have been supporting in the past with the political musical chairs and frogging games going on since the last general election.
“Voters are looking for untainted parties and clean politicians who will be committed to fight to Sarawak rights rather than personal interests.
“There is a political vacuum today for a clean third force to fulfil the aspiration of Sarawak voters for a bright future for Sarawak,” Tiong said.
Tiong also expressed welcome to more Sarawak parties to join hands together to form the alternative force to dislodge the two major political forces – Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Pakatan Harapan – in order to be bring change to the political landscape of Sarawak.
“Indeed, there is great challenge ahead, but we are in for the long haul, and nothing is ever achieved without sacrifice, persistence and perseverance,” said Tiong. — DayakDaily
