SIBU, Dec 22:  Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) is submitting a request to the Sarawak Chief Minister’s office (CMO) for a copy of the Commercial Settlement Agreement (CSA) signed with Petronas on Dec 7, 2020.

Aspirasi president Lina Soo said the people has the rights to know the details of the deal as the oil and gas resources belong to them.

“GPS politicians are saying that this is so good, but they have not articulated what is so good.

“Aspirasi as a Sarawak political party dedicated to monitoring all political developments which affect the current and future interests of the people of Sarawak wants a copy of the Agreement for perusal and scrutiny,” said Soo in a press statement today.

She held that the CSA is a public document of national interest pertaining to Sarawak’s oil and gas resources and therefore the details and fine prints should be made known to the people upon request.

“If it is just relating to the 5 per cent Sarawak sales tax, then there is no need for any agreement, except for Petronas to pay up, as has been done by other oil companies such as Shell.

“The Sarawak government must be transparent and accountable in all agreements relating to our oil and gas resources, and there is no need for a cloak of secrecy.

Soo hoped the CMO will respond to the party’s request.— DayakDaily
