“Usually held annually at the end of the year over two evenings, the award draws hundreds of entries each year from a wide range of broadcasters, including free-to-air TV stations, pay-TV platforms, digital streaming services, as well as many independent production houses in Asia,” the award organiser said in a statement today.

A panel comprising between 60 and 70 judges with solid industry credentials will adjudicate the entries. The results are then tabulated and audited by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where the winners will be announced during the awards’ night in Kuching this coming January.

The state Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports is expected to announce the award in a press conference in due time.

“Preparations for the coming event is in place. Numerous categorised entries have been received from 14 countries, including 49 broadcasters and 40 production companies, where the judging process has commenced,” the statement continued.

With a reach of over 500 million homes across the Asia Pacific, the awards show is expected to provide a major boost to Sarawak’s popularity in the television industry as well as strengthening tourist arrivals in the state amid the Visit Sarawak Year 2019.

“The weekend will see the creme de la creme of the television industry converging in Kuching over three nights of events together with some 500 international delegates with confirmed attendances.

“These include film producers, directors, performers, host talents, the panel of judges, key sponsors, nominees and celebrities from the participating countries all over Asia,” it added.
