Army personnel join villagers in clean-up ‘gotong-royong’

SIMANGGANG, Jan 18: A team of army personnel from the 13th Royal Malay Army Regiment (RAMD) has helped to clean up debris from the recent fire incident in Kampung Hilir.

A total of 16 men from various ranks together with local villagers started the ‘gotong-royong’ session from 2pm today.

On Jan 16, two houses were completely destroyed while another two were badly damaged during the 12.20pm incident.

The army personnel also helped to clean surrounding flood ravaged villages that were badly affected by the recent flood.

“Tomorrow, the 13th RAMD team will revisit the villages to present some donations consisting of food and used clothing for these victims.

“We remained committed to assist and strive to safeguard the well being of the communities, as well as other authorities,” RAMD said in a statement.

Meanwhile in Serian, 32 army personnel assisted in cleaning up St. Pio Catholic church at Kampung Selabi Entukuh.

The village and its surrounding public facilities were also badly affected by the recent flood. — DayakDaily
