Army man pleads not guilty to hurting wife

KUCHING, March 12: An army personnel claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here today to voluntarily causing hurt to his wife.

Muhamad Afham Che Mohd Nasir, 32, pleaded not guilty to the charge framed.


Senior Assistant Registrar Zaiton Anuar fixed April 14 for pre-trial case management and allowed the accused to be released on bail RM2,000 with two local sureties.

He was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to his wife at the parking lot of the Kubah Ria weekend market, at about 4pm on January 25.

He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same Code, which carries an imprisonment term of up to ten years, or fine, or whipping, or with any two, upon conviction.

According to the facts of the case, the victim had a disagreement with the accused over whether the accused did not take good care of their two-year-old son. The accused allegedly suddenly hit the victim with his hand and caused hurt to several parts of the victim’s body. — DayakDaily
