KUCHING, Oct 13: Five sacks of 2,500 coffee saplings worth about RM175,000 were found at Kampung Biawak, near the Sarawak-Kalimantan border yesterday (Oct 12).
First Malaysian Infantry Division spokesperson revealed that a group of army personnel who were patrolling the area stumbled upon the five sacks of coffee saplings 500 metres away from the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) checkpoint at 1.30pm.
“No owner was found nor any arrest made. The seized items were later handed over to the Lundu district police for further action.
“The Malaysian Army will remain committed and focused in controlling the national borders from any cross-border criminal activities, aggression and infiltration at any time even during the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic,” the statement added.
