In addition, Sarbeni Japar is the new deputy chairman, and 19 out of 25 candidates were chosen as the branch’s committee members (AJK).

Meanwhile, Khadija Datuk Haji Muip and Yusri Datuk Haji Ahmad Lai returned unopposed as the branch’s Women’s chief and Youth chief, respectively.

The meeting also witnessed the presentation of several strategic proposals by the new branch chief, including:

  • A resolution for party president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to retain his position unchallenged during the party convention this year, including retaining both PBB deputy presidents, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
  • The appointment of a Senator from PBB to represent the Sarawak northern zone.
  • Dividing Miri into two parts like Kuching north and south (DBKU and MBKS, respectively) as well as ensuring that important positions in local government are held by party representatives.
  • If there is a redelineation, the new candidate must come from PBB.
  • An increase in the quota for medal awards and the organisation of a ‘PBB Jasamu Dikenang’ programme to show appreciation to veteran members.

The meeting also discussed preparations for two major party events, which are the opening of the Northern Zone PBB Branch Representatives Meeting scheduled to be held at Pullman Hotel Miri this month; and the 16th PBB General Assembly to be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) next month. — DayakDaily
