KUCHING, March 27: Anima x Toys Anicon 2022 this weekend was a chance for fans of anime and other hobbies from across Sarawak to meet, buy merchandise, cosplay, sell art, and have a good time.
The anime and hobby convention took place from March 25 to 27 from 10am to 9.30pm daily at Vivacity Megamall Kuching’s East Atrium.
On Saturday (March 26), a cosplay competition was held, which included showcasing, a catwalk, singing, and dancing, with many talented local cosplayers vying for first, second, and third place.
The winner of Pustaka Cosplay Competition, Kiwi Apple and representing Team Chronoz Kaizer, The Emperor, Akano Saito were the cosplay competition judges.
“Cosplaying is a lot of fun for me. I get to meet people who share my interests and passions,” explained one of the cosplayers who preferred to remain anonymous.
Another cosplayer who also wanted to remain anonymous stated that he is not concerned with being perceived as “nerdy” or “quirky” because of his hobby, as everyone is the same.
Additionally, there was a Mecha Clean Build competition where visitors could observe modellers at work and learn how to put together models.
Meanwhile, members of the public could be seen taking a closer look at the various displays and purchasing anime-themed souvenirs such as keychains, mini figurines, and more at the booths. — DayakDaily
