KUCHING, July 29: All legally appointed Tuai Rumah in Bintulu Division are being paid their allowances regularly by the state government.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas in a statement today refuted the claim by Minister of Housing and Local Government Zuraida Kamaruddin that some Tuai Rumah have not been paid their allowances by the state government.
“I wish to assure the minister that the appointment of Tuai Rumah in Sarawak has always been professionally done. We (state government) have our own terms and conditions to follow. As long as they are met, we have no problem in appointing them.
Uggah advised Zuraida to meet and discuss with the Sarawak government to get clarifications on the procedures with regards to the issue.
He said he had contacted the Resident of Bintulu Division who has confirmed that all legally appointed Tuai Rumah in the division have been paid their allowances regularly.
“They are paid through the payroll system which started in the state since 2013. They will receive their allowances regularly each month until the expiry of their appointments.
“Like I have said at the onset, Zuraida is most welcome to seek official clarifications before making her allegations to the media just to tarnish the image of the state government,” stressed Uggah.
Zuraida in a press conference this morning said she was met with members from Persatuan Kebajikan Rumah Panjang Bintulu, where some Tuai Rumahs approached her and claimed that they had not been paid allowances by the state government just because they were appointed by Pakatan Harapan (PH) representatives. — DayakDaily
