KUCHING, April 3: All schools in Santubong parliamentary constituency will get comprehensive Internet access within the next 24 months, says Dato Sri Nancy Shukri.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) yesterday (April 2), Nancy, who is Women, Family and Community Development Minister as well as Santubong MP, said so far, 10 schools in the constituency has yet to get Internet access.

“In detail, what we know is that some schools will get Internet access by the end of the year because all of that is still in the process.

“Overall, Santubong parliamentary constituency has reached 95.7 per cent Internet coverage,” she said when met by reporters after launching ‘Program Tautan Kasih Ramadan’ at Bandar Baru Samariang, yesterday.

She also requested Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to expedite the process of achieving 100 per cent Internet access coverage to ensure it will benefit teachers and student in the constituency.

“We have received information from MCMC and we also know the government’s plans, especially for the Santubong area.

“Since the Santubong parliamentary area is close to the city, it is not appropriate for us not to get 4G and 5G Internet services,” she said. — DayakDaily
