All premises urged to fly Sarawak flag to honour Sarawak Day, with celebrations in Bintulu on July 22

BINTULU, July 3: All premises in Sarawak are urged to fly the Sarawak flag to commemorate the upcoming Sarawak Day celebration on July 22.

Sarawak Day celebration organising chairman Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom announced that banners would also be placed on billboards to allow all Sarawakians to celebrate together.

He highlighted that this year’s grand celebration will take place at the old Bintulu Airport compound from July 12 to 22, coinciding with the Sarawak Agrofest 2024 and the 100th anniversary of Department of Agriculture Malaysia.

The celebration will feature five main programmes including a thanksgiving ceeremony for other religions headed by Deputy Minister of Public Health and Housing Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil; a thanksgiving ceremony for Muslims headed by Deputy Minister of Women, Family, Welfare, Community Well-being, and Childhood Development Sarawak Datuk Rosey Yunus; a fun ride headed by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat; and a townhall session headed by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting.

“The guest-of-honour is of course Tuan Yang Terutama (Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar) accompanies by his wife Toh Puan (Fauziah Mohd Sanusi) and Sarawak Premier (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg).

“All the ministers and YBs (assemblymen) will also be in attendance to celebrate the occasion,” said Dr Rundi during a press conference at the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) office here which was broadcasted live via Ukas channels today.

The organising committee anticipates a crowd of 10,000 on July 22 and 450,000 visitors for the 2024 Sarawak Agrofest, surpassing last year’s attendance of 300,000 visitors in Kuching.  — DayakDaily
