“Both events are proudly organised in collaboration with Star Studio and, more importantly, reflect MBKS’s ongoing commitment to engaging youth in meaningful, creative, and empowering ways.

“The Cosplay Competition and K-pop Dance Cover Competition are not merely performance-based events, but also platforms for personal growth,” he said during a press conference held today at the MBKS building here.

The Cosplay Competition will be held on Saturday, Aug 2, 2025, from 5pm to 11pm at the MBKS Theatre. It features two categories: Junior Category for ages 5 to 12, and Open Category for ages 13 and above.

Wee highlighted that the competition invites teams of at least four members to bring their energy, choreography, and K-pop passion to life on stage.

“Participants may join more than one team, but each team must cover only one K-pop group, with crew sizes matching the group’s original or current lineup,” he added.

Cash prizes include RM2,000 for Champion, RM1,000 for First Runner-up, RM500 for Second Runner-up, RM500 for Best Costume, and RM100 each for five winners of the Random Dance Best Dancers category.

Participation in both events is free, with no registration fees required.

“Through activities like these, MBKS is creating more than just entertainment, we are opening doors for young people to explore their identity, discover their potential, and gain recognition for their unique talents,” Wee said.

He added that the events also support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

“To all young cosplayers, dancers, and performers, this is your time to shine. We welcome you to take the stage, inspire others, and bring your dreams to life this August,” he said. — DayakDaily
