Sarawak-level celebration of Agong’s birthday to be held from Sept 5-8 in Kota Samarahan

KUCHING, Aug 22: The Sarawak-level celebration of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s birthday will be held from Sept 5 to 8 in Kota Samarahan.

Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, who is also the minister in charge of the event, announced that a Royal Exhibition will be held throughout the three days at Summer Mall in Kota Samarahan.

According to him, the event will run from 10am to 10pm at the Summer Mall foyer, with approximately 10,000 visitors expected to attend.

“There will also be a multi-faith thanksgiving ceremony at the Kota Samarahan Civic Center on Sept 5 at 8pm. Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is expected to grace the event,” Julaihi told reporters at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

He also mentioned that a special sermon will be held at all mosques throughout Sarawak during Friday prayers on Sept 6.

On the same day (Sept 6), a thanksgiving ceremony will take place at Al-Muttaqin Mosque in Kota Samarahan, which will be attended by Sarawak Head of State (TYT) Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“On Sept 7, a tea ceremony will be held at Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas). Both the TYT and the Premier are also expected to attend the ceremony,” he added. — DayakDaily
