KUCHING, Aug 26: Affin Bank Group has launched Malaysia’s first Borneo Credit Card tailored for the needs of Sarawak and Sabah communities, which Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg described as a symbol of the region’s economic strength and inclusivity.

Abang Johari highlighted that the new Borneo Credit Card, launched in East Malaysia, offers flexible financial solutions, rewards and promotions that benefit the community while reinforcing Affin’s commitment to inclusivity.

“The market has recognised Affin’s growing strength. Its first international credit rating of A3 from Moody’s Ratings reflects strong confidence in the bank and paves the way for more competitive funding.

“With this recognition, Affin is better positioned to channel support into our economy and drive future growth.

“Affin’s inclusion for the second time in the Fortune 500 Southeast Asia Companies list further reaffirms its standing and potential across ASEAN,” he said when officiating the grand opening of Affin Bank Hikmah Exchange Branch and its first regional office in East Malaysia at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre here today.

The Premier stressed that the achievement was not only a success story for Affin, but also for Sarawak’s economic growth.

“Growth is built on trust. Without trust, growth cannot succeed. I hope Sarawak continues to uphold trust, whether in safeguarding our people, securing family homes, leading businesses or meeting the needs of the government.

“If trust is broken, opportunities will slip away. The time to act is now, and the government must act wisely. That is why the Sarawak government has taken bold economic initiatives,” he added.

According to a press handout, the Affin Borneo Credit Card is lifestyle-driven, offering flexible solutions, attractive rewards and regional privileges for customers in Sarawak and Sabah.

It offers several key benefits, including 0.5 per cent unlimited cashback on every transaction with no caps, a low 8 per cent finance charge/profit rate to ease financial burdens, and no annual fee for life to ensure maximum value.

The card is also made from 100 per cent recycled PVC, underscoring Affin’s support for sustainable practices while delivering modern financial convenience.

The event was also attended by various dignitaries and officials, including Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Acting State Secretary Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Affin Bank president and Group chief executive officer (PGCEO) Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah, and Affin Bank chairman Dato Agil Natt. — DayakDaily
