Adverse weather forecasted for several areas in Sarawak, MetMalaysia notice valid until 7pm (March 17)

KUCHING, March 17: There is a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Sarawak this evening, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Sibu (Selangau), Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi), and Limbang (Limbang). The warning, which was issued at 3.50pm today, will remain in effect until 7pm.


“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour. A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
