KUCHING, Sept 3: Advanced acute internal medicine is an initiative to prepare frontliners to face critical situations when dealing with cases involving acute patients.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, said the main goal is to ensure that all medical experts learn how to detect patients’ illnesses directly while also contributing to the needy.

He said this when officiating ‘Master and Explore in Imaging Medical UltraSonography Skill’ (MAXIMUSS) Sarawak Le Tour De Borneo at Sarawak General Hospital here yesterday (Sept 2).

He also hoped that hospitals nationwide can make the best use of advanced acute internal medicine for the benefit of patients.

At the event, the Raja Muda who is also Malaysia Advanced Acute Internal Medicine & Ultrasound Society (MAAIMUSS) royal patron was accompanied by Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Meanwhile, MAAIMUSS president Datuk Seri Profesor Dr Paras Doshi said with this method, the hospital can save bed utilisation rates because the diagnosis can be made in a short period of time without having to be admitted to the ward.

“The use of this method has been proven to be successful in reducing a lot of bed congestion in the ward and improving the performance of patient care,” he said. — DayakDaily
