Activist group S4S to contest in all major seats in PRN12

KUCHING, Feb 15: The Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) activist group will contest in all major seats in the upcoming 12th state election (PRN12) due next year.

The group in a press statement said it had decided to contest in major seats in town and rural areas and their platform would be focusing on referendum ordinance and independence.

S4S spokesperson Erick Chin said that most of S4S’ candidates were young and came from various professional backgrounds, stressing that all of the candidates will go through a tighter screening process.

“They will take an oath. Once, they win the election or seats, they will table the Referendum Ordinance at the State Legislative Assembly. Once it is tabled, we will go for Independence Referendum,” Chin revealed.

Chin stated that the list of candidates and seats will be revealed soon.

He said that S4S believed that Sarawakians were becoming more unhappy every day and the need for a third force in the current political landscape was necessary.

He recalled that in 2015, S4S had collected 300,000 signatures from Sarawakians to push the Sarawak Government to pass the Referendum Ordinance in the State Legislative Assembly.

“That’s why we have strong responsibilities to bring Sarawakians’ voice loud and clear in DUN,” he stressed. —DayakDaily
