ACCCIS, M-Ficord hold dialogue session to strengthen public-private collaboration

KUCHING, Feb 28: The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) paid a courtesy call and held a dialogue session today with the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Sarawak (M-Ficord) in an effort to strengthen public-private collaboration for the greater good of Sarawak.

The ACCCIS delegation was led by its president, Dato Tan Jit Kee, and was received by M-Ficord head of Policy and Development Division Dr Gluma Saban, according to a press release.

Tan stated that the Premier of Sarawak had previously called on ACCCIS from the private sector to collaborate with the public sector in order to progress Sarawak towards becoming a developed region by 2030.


The dialogue with M-Ficord was part of ACCCIS’ efforts to strengthen public-private collaboration for the benefit of Sarawak.

Tan also mentioned that the dialogue with M-Ficord was positive and productive, with a variety of issues discussed.

Smart farming, animal feeds made from oil palm waste, edible bird nests, and the development of young agro entrepreneurs were among the topics discussed.

Meanwhile, Dr Gluma noted that M-Ficord and ACCCIS would form joint working groups to explore collaboration in the aforementioned areas.

He went on to say that the dialogue was a good follow-up to ACCCIS and West Malaysia’s Agro-entrepreneurs group’s previous meeting with M-Ficord minister Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

Dr Gluma also stated that M-Ficord is eager to collaborate with ACCCIS and that there are numerous opportunities for the private sector in the agro-commodity and food industries as Sarawak progresses towards becoming a net food exporter.

Among those present at the dialogue session included M-Ficord senior officials including Principal Assistant Secretary Policy Liew Ju Jeng, Assistant Secretary Policy Gavin Dom, Assistant Secretary Policy Kenneth Topit, Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak Director Dr Adrian Susin Ambud, Salcra Ag General Manager Sikin Sentok, Head of Business Development Raymond Britin, Department of Agriculture Sarawak Head of Inland Fisheries Division Fakharuddin Bokhari, Research Officer Stonton Morse Jerry Rumpang, and Agriculture Officer Jessyca Mujah.
