KUCHING, July 22: Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki was appointed the new Sarawak State Secretary effective yesterday (July 21).
Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian confirmed this by extending a congratulatory message on his Facebook post yesterday to Abu Bakar, who appeared to have been officially sworn in.
Abu Bakar, 58, is replacing Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, who retired on July 1 after serving more than 42 years in the State civil service and served as the Acting State Secretary after Jaul’s retirement.
Abu Bakar has been Deputy State Secretary (Socio-Economic Transformation) since 2018. He also served as the State Planning Unit (SPU) director from 2016 to 2018.
Before that, he was Sarawak Foundation director from 2006 to 2016.
Born on Sept 29, 1964, he earned a Master of Science, Human Resource Development Degree from University Putra Malaysia in 1990 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1987. — DayakDaily
