KUCHING, Nov 14: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg wants to set aside an RM100 million allocation for the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) next year.
Abang Johari said this earlier today at an event to show appreciation for Unifor Sibu at a hotel in Sibu.
“You requested that the allocation be increased in 2023; we increase lah. I want to increase it to RM100 million next year.
“In addition, the elected representatives of the people are contributing through their minor rural project (MRP) and rural transformation project (RTP) allocations, and I’m talking for those under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
“They have the allocation, and they also help religious bodies, meaning when you do good things, God will reward us,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas stated in his welcoming speech that RM255 million had been allocated to Unifor since 2017.
For the Special Development Assistance Fund (SDAF), RM215 million has been allocated, with RM15 million allocated in 2017, RM20 million in 2018, RM30 million in 2019, and RM50 million each in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
For the mission schools, RM30 million has been allocated, with RM15 million allocated each in 2021 and 2022.
Furthermore, for Covid-19 operational assistance, RM10 million has been allocated, with RM5 million allocated each in 2021 and 2022.
Also present at the event were Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and Unifor director Richard Lon. — DayakDaily
