KUCHING, May 10: The Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today visited the Port of Rotterdam to look into the development and operation of the fifth largest port in the world.
Leading an entourage from Sarawak, he is expected to visit Shell’s Technology Centre in Amsterdam that is showcasing the multinational company’s hydrogen technology and various other new innovations in the afternoon.
Abang Johari is currently in Rotterdam, the Netherlands for the World Hydrogen 2022 Summit and Exhibition where he had highlighted Sarawak’s readiness for the hydrogen economy when delivering his keynote address themed “Accelerating the Global Hydrogen Economy: The Sarawak Way” at the start of the three-day summit yesterday (May 9).
At the exhibition, the Sarawak entourage also paid a short visit to the Shell booth to explore the latest hydrogen technology developed by the company.
This was followed by a visit to Shell’s office in the Hague, where the Premier was briefed on Shell’s operation in Sarawak as well as the prospects for further development and cooperation.
Members of his delegation include Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Energy and Environmental Sustainability Minister Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, State Financial secretary Datuk Seri Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, State Economic Planning Unit director Datuk Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Hussain, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) chairman Datuk Amar Hamed Sepawi and SEB chief executive officer (CEO) Datu Sharbini Suhaili. ā DayakDaily
