KUCHING, Nov 8: Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) has established bilateral cooperation with Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) in managing Sarawak’s oil and gas, including offshore exploration off the State’s coast.
The matter was among the main topics of discussion between the Sarawak government and PETRONAS at the Third Annual Strategic Dialogue between the Sarawak government and PETRONAS which was held at PETRONAS Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur today.
According to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the dialogue which took place based on the Commercial Agreement between Sarawak and PETRONAS also touched on the carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) industry in addition to the latter’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) in education in Sarawak.
“We have discussed a lot of matters related to CCUS, as well as the corporate social responsibility of PETRONAS in helping us, including in education.
“Thirdly, it was about strengthening the cooperation between PETRONAS and Petros in managing oil and gas in Sarawak, including offshore exploration,” Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) quoted Abang Johari as saying when he was met by reporters after the dialogue which was chaired by PETRONAS chairman Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh and lasted more than two hours.
According to Ukas, the Sarawak government is also ready to cooperate with PETRONAS in exploring alternative energy production other than oil and gas such as hydrogen.
Abang Johari remarked that the dialogue was a successful one which will bring about much returns and progress to Sarawak.
Earlier, the Premier of Sarawak received a courtesy visit from PETRONAS president and group CEO Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Kamadjaja Aziz. — DayakDaily
