“I would like to share with you that Sarawak is now at the forefront in this region in terms of hydrogen technology.

“I was invited to give a talk, insyaAllah (God-willing) after Raya, in Bali. It would be a regional-level meet on hydrogen technology,” he said.

Abang Johari further said that he was in Malinau of North Kalimantan, Indonesia, last month where Sarawak had invested in a hydroelectric power station with Indonesia.

He said Indonesian president Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his delight over the hydroelectric power station project in partnership with Sarawak through Sarawak Energy Berhad to produce electricity for the industrial zone in North Kalimantan. The video can be watched here.

Abang Johari also disclosed that Sarawak’s direction in the hydrogen industry had also been acknowledged by Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“I noted that Anwar has also discussed on hydrogen and gas with Jokowi but I do not know the details.

“However, what’s important is that we (Sarawak Energy) are the biggest Malaysian company investing in North Kalimantan,” he said.

Also present were Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development (Talent Development) Datuk Francis Harden Hollis; Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Sarawak permanent secretary Azmi Bujang; Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki; Education Advisor at Sarawak Premier’s Office Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong; and SK Merpati Jepang Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) president Dato Dr Zaiedi Suhaili. – DayakDaily
